TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Kensey McMahon, a swimmer at The University of Alabama has reached the 7th place at the N.C.A.A. Championships, becoming an All American.
The Aquatic Center is the second home for the swimmers of University of Alabama Swimming and Diving team. These athletes have nine practices a week. They take the laps day by day, before and after school as well. The team have had a successful season so far, finishing with one of the biggest competitions last week. The women's N-C-A-A- Championships were held in Austin, Texas, March 20-23.
Kensey McMahon, a distance swimmer at the University of Alabama, competed in the 500-yard and 1650-yard freestyle. With her longer event, and her personal best time (15:53.18), - which is a school record as well, - she reached the 7th place and became an All American. In the top 14 people competed, she was the only freshman that participated in this event.
"In pool swimming I think my biggest accomplishment was heading into my freshman year here, at Alabama this past summer," said McMahon. - "I placed first in the 800 and 1500 meter freestyle at the Junior Nationals."

Besides open-water competitions, which is her real passion, her events include the 400 IM, 500 and 1650 freestyle during the season. The SEC Championships went very well for her, she dropped three seconds in her 500-yard freestyle and placed third in the mile.
"In the future, I'd like to make that jump from the Junior national team to the Senior national team." she said. - "I'd like to represent the U.S.A. and the University of Alabama at the highest level."
